This is an empirical formula that is based on a combination of three formulas: Er Xian Tang (Formula of the Two 'Xian' Herbs a.k.a. Epimedium & Curculigo Combination), Bai He Di Huang Tang and Gan Mai Da Zao Tang (Licorice, Wheat and Jujube Combination). The former is a relatively modern formulation that may support hypertension in menopause. Not only was it shown to be effective for this, but it may also have the side effect of reducing hot flushes. The latter formula was first recorded over 2,000 years ago.
