  • Supports preconception health, including supporting women’s reproductive health by reducing free radical formation in the body, and maintaining healthy hormone balance during the menstrual cycle

  • Contains vitamin D3 to help support bone health and mineralisation
  • Supports the increased nutritional requirements of women who are breastfeeding
  • Supports healthy stress responses in the body
  • Maintains healthy immune system function

How it works

During pregnancy, your nutritional status plays a key role in your own health and that of the baby you’re carrying.

For example, folate is involved in several aspects of conception and pregnancy including red blood cell production, foetal growth and the healthy development of your baby’s organs.

In order to be utilised by the body, folic acid from supplement and folate from food need to be converted into 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF).

Oriental Botanicals Conception & Pregnancy Care provides 500mcg per day of activated forms of folic acid (250mcg folinic acid and 250mcg 5-MTHF as Quatrefolic®).

These forms of folic acid don’t require as much metabolic processing as regular folic acid before they can be utilised by the body.

Women with certain genetic profiles (including up to half of those of Caucasian and Asian backgrounds1) may have difficulty metabolising regular forms of folic acid. Due to their activated status, folinic acid and 5-MTHF are considered more suitable forms of folic acid for people affected by these genetic issues.

Oriental Botanicals Conception & Pregnancy Care also contains activated vitamin B2 (riboflavin sodium phosphate), vitamin B6 (pyridoxal 5-phosphate) and vitamin B12 (mecobalamin).

Vitamin B12 helps prevent neural tube defects in women whose dietary intake is inadequate, including those who are vegetarian and vegan.

Other nutrients that may be beneficial for women in the lead up to pregnancy include zinc, which maintains healthy hormone balance during the menstrual cycle. Along with other antioxidants such as selenium and vitamins C and E, zinc also supports preconception health by helping reduce free radical formation in the body.

Many women in Australia have low dietary intakes of iodine, so the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) recommends supplementation with 150mcg iodine per day for women who are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding2. Adequate intake of iodine is required in the diets of mothers-to-be for normal foetal development, and in particular for healthy development of your baby’s brain, nervous system and cognition.

Similarly, many women in Australia who are in their childbearing years have inadequate levels of vitamin D3. Babies born to mothers with insufficient vitamin D are also likely to be low in this important nutrient, which is required for healthy foetal development and building healthy bones.

Oriental Botanicals Conception & Pregnancy Care also contains nutrients to support healthy red blood cell formation, immune function and stress responses in the body.

Additionally, this comprehensive multivitamin and mineral supplement provides a broad spectrum of nutrients to support the increased nutritional requirements of women who are breastfeeding.

During breastfeeding, Oriental Botanicals Conception & Pregnancy Care is suitable to use alongside Oriental Botanicals Breastfeeding Care, which contains herbs used to enhance breast milk production in traditional Western herbal medicine.

How to use my electronic prescription?

After selecting your medications, send us your e-script token in one of the three ways listed below.

# Please note that each medication you're prescribed will have its own unique token. Your e-Script token is the string of 14-20 letters and numbers underneath the QR code in your Electronic Prescription email or SMS.

How to use my paper prescription?

After purchasing your medications, post your paper prescription to:

Fitchs Pharmacy

Perth WA 6000

# Please note, your script must be delivered to our Online Pharmacist in Perth WA before we can process and ship your order.

I selected "I need a script." What happens next?

After selecting this option, you will receive an SMS within 24 hours of placing your order, containing a link to book an appointment with a telehealth medical practitioner via the HotDoc platform. During the consultation, the practitioner will assess your needs and, if clinically appropriate, provide a prescription. Please note that the consultation incurs an additional fee, billed separately through HotDoc. Medicare rebates are available for telehealth consults. If the practitioner is unable to provide a prescription, a refund will be issued for the product, but not for the consultation.

How long does it take for my prescription to be processed?

At Fitchs Pharmacy, we aim to ship your medicines within 1 business day. However, there are some things that may delay your order:

  • Electronic prescriptions can be processed immediately provided your token number has been entered correctly, in the case of an error our Pharmacist will contact you to check details.
  • Fridge Items: Medications that require refrigeration are shipped early in the week, depending on your location, to ensure they are not held over the weekend and ensure optimal storage. For faster delivery, we recommend selecting Team Global Express instead of Australia Post.
  • Our Pharmacist may need to get in contact with you to talk about your medicines before your prescription can be shipped, be sure to provide your best contact details in the checkout.

How will my prescription be delivered?

Once your order is reviewed and approved by our pharmacist, it will be shipped via Australia Post or Team Global Express. Fridge items will be packed in an esky with ice to maintain the necessary temperature, while other medications will be sent in discreet packaging.
