  • Alisma and phellodendron to relieve symptoms of medically diagnosed cystitis, and pyrrosia to help relieve burning pain while urinating (based on their use in traditional Chinese medicine, TCM)

  • Crataeva, which is traditionally used to support bladder health and urinary function in traditional Ayurvedic medicine

Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. If symptoms persist, worsen or change unexpectedly speak to your healthcare practitioner.

How it works

Cranberry helps reduce the frequency of medically diagnosed cystitis in women

Women experience cystitis more frequently than men due to the shorter length of their urinary tracts (which make it easier for bacteria to reach the bladder and cause infection).

It’s estimated that three in ten women will experience at least one bout of cystitis in their lifetimes. Recurrence of the infection is common, with around a quarter of women who experience a cystitis infection also experiencing a second cystitis episode within six months of the first*.

Oriental Botanicals Cystitum contains cranberry, which helps reduce the occurrence of medically diagnosed cystitis in women. It works by inhibiting common cystitis-causing bacteria from attaching to the bladder wall.

Couch grass: soothing and anti-inflammatory

Couch grass (pronounced ‘cooch’) is used to ease symptoms of medically diagnosed cystitis in traditional Western herbal medicine, where it’s regarded as having anti-inflammatory actions, soothing effects on irritated tissues, and as helping to flush out the urinary tract.

The couch grass used in Oriental Botanicals Cystitum is Elymus repens (previously known as Agropyron repens), which is a different species to the plant of the same common name that’s often used for growing lawns.

Chinese herbs for cystitis symptom relief

In TCM, phellodendron and alisma are used to relieve symptoms of medically diagnosed cystitis.

For example, based on its use in TCM, alisma relieves the urinary burning that’s characteristic of medically diagnosed cystitis and helps support healthy excretion of urine, which may be compromised during cystitis. Pyrrosia is used in a similar way in TCM.

In TCM, these three herbs are also used to support the overall health and function of the urinary tract.

Crateva supports urinary and bladder health

Oriental Botanicals Cystitum also contains crateva, which has a long history of use in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for maintaining the health and function of the urinary system, including that of the bladder.

Prescription FAQ's

All medicines listed in our prescriptions category require a valid prescription from an Australian registered prescriber. No prescription items will be processed or shipped until a valid prescription has been received and verified by our pharmacist.

  • Enter your prescription token number when adding the product to the cart
  • Forward your email e-script to [email protected]
  • Forward your SMS e-script to +61 483 913 912

How do I submit my paper prescription?

Post your original paper prescription to:

Fitchs Pharmacy
731 Hay Street Mall
Perth WA 6000

# Please note, your script must be delivered to our Online Pharmacist in Perth WA before we can process and ship your order.

What if I don't have a prescription?

A valid prescription from an Australian registered prescriber is required before we can dispense any prescription medicine. If you do not currently hold a prescription, please consult your doctor or healthcare provider to discuss your treatment options.

How long does it take for my prescription to be processed?

At Fitchs Pharmacy, we aim to ship your medicines within 1 business day of receiving a valid prescription. However, there are some things that may affect timing:

  • For paper prescriptions, your script must be received at our Perth pharmacy before we can process your order. Depending on your location, postal delivery may take 2-5 business days.
  • Electronic prescriptions can be processed immediately, provided your token number has been entered correctly. In the case of an error, our pharmacist will contact you to check details.
  • Fridge items: Medications that require refrigeration are shipped early in the week to ensure they are not held over the weekend and to maintain optimal storage. For faster delivery, we recommend selecting Team Global Express instead of Australia Post.
  • Our pharmacist may need to contact you to discuss your medicines before your prescription can be shipped. Please ensure your contact details are up to date at checkout.

How will my prescription be delivered?

Once your order is reviewed and approved by our pharmacist, it will be shipped via Australia Post or Team Global Express. Fridge items will be packed in an esky with ice to maintain the required temperature. All prescription items are sent in discreet packaging.

Can I return prescription items for a refund?

Due to the nature of prescription items, we are unable to offer refunds for change of mind after they have been shipped. However, if you change your mind before your order is shipped, a refund can be issued, minus a 5% fee to cover payment processing costs.

If there is a problem with your order, please contact us at [email protected]
